To the Nobles of the Greater Daytona Shrine Club

Nobles, Ladies, and Friends,

I sincerely hope that this communication finds you, your family and friends in good health and in good spirits during these trying times.

Here is some information to keep you up to date with the GDSC happenings.

Over the past several months we have endured some extraordinary changes in our lives and the way that we go about our daily activities. The new buzz word for the year 2020 and beyond is (Social Distancing) and unfortunately, I do not think that this is going away anytime soon.  Some of us chose to quarantine, some to limit their social activities, some chose to limit their social gathering to just a select few close friends and finally some chose whether to or not to wear a mask.  Only you can choose what is right for you and your family.

As Masons and Shriners, we have learned to change with the changing times. As you all know, to support our fraternity we depend on discretionary income from our members, the public as well as support from our local business. Over the past several months and into the future with social distancing, businesses closing and reduced capacity, our fund-raising ability has diminished to an all-time low, therefore we have had to cancel and postpone several of our fundraising activities into the future.

Currently, the only fundraising activities we will have moving forward this year is our Raffle Ticket Drawing. We will be drawing the winning tickets on Sunday, October 18th, 2020 at the Olive Garden on International Blvd., Daytona Beach.  We will meet at 3:00pm for social gathering and placing our dinner orders and on or about 4:00pm we will draw the winning tickets and have our dinners. Dinner can be ordered off their current menu. I hope to see everyone on the 18th to enjoy dinner and followship. Please RSVP to secy@daytonashriner.com Charlie Lizotte or VP@daytonashriner.com Gene Masterson. Please bring any unsold or sold tickets that you have at that time. Ticket sales are also available on our website or call me any time prior to that day.  Uniform of the day Fez and Club shirt.

Business Meetings

Due to the Covid-19 crisis we have temporary postponed our monthly dinner meeting until more of our members start venturing out again.  Soon, we will be changing the dates and times of our business meetings.  Starting December 1st, we will be meeting on Tuesday’s evening starting at 6:00pm with the meeting starting at 6:30pm. This will be a business meeting with Nobles only.

Until we met again, Stay Home, Stay Safe and Stay Healthy!

Yours, fraternally and in the Faith,
Harry Douris
President 2020/21

The more I come in contact with the work of he Masonic Fraternity the more impressed I am by the great charitable work and great practical good which we are carring out, especially in the line which is so close to my heart- the care of little children.”
